WhipTail’s data storage is a flash-based storage array, which leverages MLC-based flash solid-state drives as high-speed storage for mission-critical workloads, including Databases, Virtual Desktop Infrastructures, and Server Virtualization.
Traditional spinning disk storage reached its apex of 15,000 RPM in 1990, with an output of 200 IOs per second. That is as fast as they would ever those disc's would ever go. The RROS extends the lifetime of the flash drives to beyond 7.5 years while optimizing the underlying flash architecture. Offering real-world performance numbers of 250,000 IO/s with a jaw-dropping 0.1 MS of latency, the XLR8r is purpose-built, its underlying technology completely “de-coupled” from all previous attempts at solving that fundamental IT issue: IO’s.
