Like many Americans, my conscience was shaken when the devastating earthquake rocked Haiti in 2010. Looking around my sturdy house, at my wonderful family, I realized I have so many simple blessings that make such a big impact on my life. I knew I needed to show my children, Clare, 16, and Colleen, 14, why these blessings should never be taken for granted. With Hurricane Sandy battering the east coast, it seems like now, more than ever is a time for helping others.
My daughters are embarking on a journey, one that requires fortitude and sacrifice. Through the nonprofit Nehemiah Vision Ministries, they will help Haiti rebuild by creating family businesses, building sports fields, conducting camps, teaching art classes, assisting in the medical clinic and more from March 29-April 5, 2013.
I couldn’t be more proud of my daughters and of the confident young adults they are becoming. I hope you will support their endeavors by helping them reach their $3000 goal ($1500 a piece). Your financial support will do much more than help them with travel and living expenses. Your tax-deductible donation will help a country battling with poverty and devastation continue to recover.
In the end, being a parent and a small business owner are both similar roles. I encourage my daughters to support the community with compassion, just as I support my clients’ needs with integrity. No amount of understanding or support is too small to make a difference. If you want to make a difference, please consider making a check or money order to “I’m in” (www.im-in.org) and mailing it to Leonard-Mcdowell at PO box 182 Zionsville, IN 46077. If you have any questions, please feel free to call Clare at 317-501-0334. Thank you for your gracious support.
